Chicken drumsticks with warm spice – mandarin orange sauce

Chicken drumsticks with warm spice, mandarin orange sauce

Ingredients

  • 6 chicken legs (drumsticks)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 shallots
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (freshly grated)
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • about 1/2 cup water
  • salt, to taste
  • juice from 1-2 mandarin oranges
  • parsley garnish

Instructions

Cut the shallots into small sections, and slice the garlic cloves in half. Place them in a skillet or frying pan together with the oil and butter and sautee for a minute or so at medium temperature.

Add the chicken to the pan as well as the spices, and continue to sautee until the meat takes on a golden color.

Next, pour the water into the pan and add the salt. Once the water has heated, allow the chicken to simmer on medium-low temperature until it is very tender (probably at least 30 minutes).

Serve the chicken with a splash of fresh mandarin orange juice and a parsley garnish.
